Welcome to the Monday Evening Book Group!

April 7th- "The Berry Pickers" by Amanda Peters tells the story of a Mi'kmaq family from Nova Scotia who travel to Maine each summer to pick blueberries, where their young daughter Ruthie mysteriously disappears one day, leaving her older brother Joe haunted by the loss and struggling with guilt as he was the last person to see her; the narrative also follows Norma, a seemingly privileged young girl growing up in Maine who gradually uncovers a family secret connected to Ruthie's disappearance, leading her to confront her own troubled past and identity.
May 5th - "The Briar Club" by Kate Quinn is a historical fiction novel set in a women's boarding house in Washington D.C. during the McCarthy era, where a group of diverse women, including a former baseball star, a secretary for the House Un-American Activities Committee, and a mysterious widow, form an unlikely friendship through weekly dinner parties, gradually revealing their hidden secrets and navigating the dangers of the political climate, as a shocking act of violence forces them to question who the true enemy is among them.
June 2nd- "The Things We Leave Unfinished" by Rebecca Yarros is a dual-timeline romance novel where Georgia Stanton, a woman recently divorced, returns to her childhood home in Colorado and encounters Noah Harrison, a bestselling romance author tasked with finishing the unfinished manuscript of her late great-grandmother, Scarlett Stanton, a renowned author from World War II era whose love story with a pilot, Jameson Stanton, is intertwined with Georgia's present-day struggles with love and trust; as they delve into Scarlett's letters and diary entries, Georgia and Noah find themselves falling for each other while grappling with the complexities of their own relationships and the unfinished business of the past.
July 7th- "Behind Her Eyes" by Sarah Pinborough is a psychological thriller about a single mother, Louise, who begins an affair with her new boss, David, and then unexpectedly becomes friends with his wife, Adele, leading to a complex web of secrets and shocking revelations as Louise gets entangled in their troubled marriage, discovering that nothing is as it seems and dark, sinister truths lie beneath the surface; the story takes a particularly shocking turn with the introduction of the element of astral projection, which plays a key role in the unexpected ending.
